The Extreme 13231 is for network segments that do not need the benefit of Layer 3 switching at the edge and whose applications do not demand a higher level of redundancy than provided by Spanning Tree Protocol the Summit24e2 is a Layer 2 switch with a reasonable subset of Extreme features to support this environment. The Summit24e2 enables end-to-end Extreme networking at the most competitive price point yet.
